Transylvania Wildflowers workshop: Focus on Sketchbook studies
June 10th – 16th 2027

This week long workshop is limited to a maximum of 5 students and will focus on keeping a sketchbook and working in pencil and watercolour.

“Established by Rachel & James de Candole in 2018, the Transylvania school of botanic art & illustration in Romania is a family-run residential school dedicated to the observation, illustration and conservation of the flora of Transylvania.
The school sits in the grounds of the family’s home in Copşa Mare, a small village surrounded by meadows, wood pasture and tens of thousands of hectares of oak, beech & hornbeam.
Prices
Our 2027 classes cost EUR 3100 if you sign up in 2026, thereafter EUR 3250.
These fees cover 30+ hours of tuition over 5 days, accommodation in your own bedroom for 6 nights, full board incl. drinks, Sibiu airport/town centre transfers to and from us provided you are three or more in the transport we arrange for you, and all adventures at dawn and dusk.”

Cambridge University Botanical Gardens: Courses 2026
Pen and Ink: Stippling Workshop
Format: In-person (Three-day)
Date: 24/03/2026 – 26/03/2026
Time: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday @ 10 am – 4 pm
Summary
This three day course will focus on stippling as a means of showing tonality in pen and ink drawings. There’ll be plenty to draw, some line drawing excersizes, and lots of time to really build up differences of tone with stippling. Book Here.

Painting Blue Flowers in Watercolour
Format: In-person (Two-day)
Date: 20/05/2026 – 21/05/2026
Time: Wednesday & Thursday @ 10 am – 4 pm
Summary
Spend time illustrating some of the beautiful blue and purple flowers growing in the botanic gardens with watercolour.
There’ll be a bit on flower anatomy, a lot on colour mixing, and loads of different flowers to paint. Book Here.

Format: In-person (Full day)
Date: 07/07/2026
Time: Tuesday @ 10 am – 4 pm
Summary
One day course spent learning about grasses, looking at their enormous variety, and doing simple line drawings of them with pen and ink. With bonus talk from Raphaella Hull, head of learning at the gardens. Book Here.
