Guide to Britain's Hay Meadows by Phil Gates. June 2018Landscape illustration of a cross section through an idealized Hay meadow, for article in BBC Countryfile Magazine. The landscape includes a cross section of a mole burrow, details of the roots of yellow rattle, meadow butterflies, beetles and worms, small mammals, a soaring swallow, and lots of wild meadow flowers. The landscape behind is based on Muker, in Swaledale. The “Guide to Britain’s Hay Meadows” also includes several botanical illustrations of grass species.
