I’ve always struggled to differentiate between grasses, sedges, and rushes, but the rhyme ‘Sedges have edges, rushes are round, grasses have knees’ makes it so much easier to remember. I love the detail about the nodes in grasses and the pith in rushes; it really helps one appreciate the complexity of these plants that we often overlook.
