Hi Stephanie, oooh thankyou! Coming from you, Madame bright and glorious sea animals, that means a great deal. Didn't realise you lived near the sea, makes sense. Cheers for the comment. xx

In reply to <a href="https://lizzieharper.co.uk/2021/08/illustrations-for-30-animals-that-made-us-smarter/#comment-4165">Nicole</a>.

Hi Nicole

This is such a fabulous and helpful comment. I absolutely will do a "day in the life"; I could even do a series. And you're right, it sure as anything ain't graceful. There's a lot of duck-leg-paddling that goes on. And balancing family, home, my mum (who suffers with dementia but has excellent carers - thanks for asking after her) is as tricky for me as for everyone else with a full-time job. Saying that, I do have the luxury of setting my own hours, so if I want to tackle mum's overgrown garden, or need to take a child to swimming lessons, it's easy to do.

Im especially pleased that Ive helped you overcome some of those obstacles and "i can't" thoughts that stop us from working. I do think cutting through the mystique is important. Anyone can do it, it's just finding the time and doing the graft. I'm so glad, especially, that the cheating blog was useful. I cant tell you how croiss it makes me that people who want to draw and express theor creativity feel inhibited from doing it thanks to some silly nonsensical "rules". Cheating aint a thing, and that's fab to hear my blog helped you.

So yes, when the "day in the life" blog comes out, youll be the one to blame!

Thanks Nicole

Wow! Beautiful illustrations in what looks like a wonderfully fascinating book-I will definitely be on the lookout for it.
Your blog posts are fantastic and so inspirational, encouraging me to overcome my (often imagined or self imposed) limitations and just draw!
I love reading about how you manage the more difficult drawings, asking for references, help from friends with the right equipment, etc.
Also, reading that something could seem difficult to such an amazing artist makes me realise how important it is to show up and do the work before you feel ready to do it.
I would love to read ‘a day in the life’ blog post, telling us realistically how much of a project you get to do in a day and how you fit your work in around family and other commitments (by the way, I hope your mother is feeling better!)
Sometimes with expert artists I imagine the process to be very graceful and easy but I doubt this is the case!
Beautiful work as always and I look forward to reading more honest and inspiring blog posts in future.
Ps- your blog about “cheating” was brilliant and is basically my written permission slip to just go for it with whatever tools I need! Thank you!
